MAYRIT is a bienal platform for architecture and design taking place in May 2022 in Madrid, Spain.

It aspires to dialogue with the city’s aquatic past through a series of interventions and events that engage with the city’s infrastructural, geologic, and ecological identities. This edition thus seeks to design and implement an operating model to drive multi-level change in the way biennials are run. A connected and rooted network of national and international architects, designers, art professionals and media becomes the bedrock for a project which aims to consolidate and validate the work of an upcoming generation of experimental creatives. In this moment of uncertainty it is essential to embrace the transdisciplinarity found within current design practices, opening the spectrum of possibility for an urban, cultural and social restructuring of our cities.
